The mucosa of the lobular bronchiole is the mucosal lining of a lobular bronchiole consisting of simple cuboidal or columnar epithelium.

Located lining the interior of lobular bronchioles at the transition zone between conducting airways and respiratory portions of the lung.

The bronchiolar mucosa conducts air while beginning gas exchange through scattered simple alveoli, and provides a surface for mucociliary clearance.

The bronchiolar mucosa is continuous proximally with the terminal bronchiole epithelium and distally with the alveolar epithelium.

Inflammation in bronchiolitis causes edema and mucus plugging leading to obstruction, especially in infants.
